The city is fragile
This project was developed to regain ownership of the forgotten and hidden spaces shared by communities. Though public, these spaces offer unique privacy to passengers. The installation aims to highlight the intimacy of these locations during their temporal stay, while merging with the environment through gradual growth.
Melbourne takes pride for its virbant art scene, in an age of rapid consumption, at what point does public artworks become part of the forgotten background, another noise and distraction that contributes to the overcrowded city? These clusters of colours are not intended for reshaping the urban dynamic nor to seek attentions of their own. They are implemented as means of ownership and comfort that counters the abuse of these infrastructures.
