Pink Lake City was submitted for the The Isle of Design International Projection Mapping Competition, where artists and designers were asked to create a short animation to be projected on the Australia High Commission building in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in January 2022. The project was created and recorded entirely in VR using Quill. The project explored vertical composition of a Virtual stage and incorporated the use of a moving camera, to manifest a fictional urban landscape.
This fantasy destination, Pink Lake City, was inspired by the festive characteristics of both Australian and Malaysian culture, where both countries are known for their friendly and welcoming personalities.
The destination took reference to the pink lakes in Australia, the Malaysian Wau, and stingrays that can be found in both countries' waters. I wanted to create a metropolis surrounded by pink lakes, and that the people would fly Wau to honour the nature and stingrays that fly among the stars.
Papermoon is a wall projection commissioned by Creative Brimbank. The project commenced in March, where I researched the local biodiversity, created concept sketches, and animated a Virtual stage using Quill. The VR environment was virtually mapped (to the building facade) and recorded, it was then projected on the projection wall located behind the Brimbank Community & Civic Centre in Sunshine from the 1st of July to the 31st of August, 2022.
